LIM 65 & CFC 50

I've got a card suitable for two challenges again today.  Less is More has a simple sketch for us to follow.  Their guidelines say "There seems to have been lots of layers creeping into submissions of late and in some cases a considerable lack of white space.  For this week's sketch we'd like you to keep to the proportions of this drawing so that there is considerable white space remaining in the finished card."  CAS-ual Friday are asking that we celebrate spring with flowers or trees in a "Clean and Simple" style.
My card uses Hobby Art Scene-it Stamps to create the picture, which was watercoloured.  Simple mounting and an embossed sentiment from Country Companions complete the card.
With a left over piece of watercolour card I created an additional scene which is shown below.  Once my supplies are out it's fun to create more than one card on a theme :)

Freshly Made Sketches #32

This is the first time I've entered into the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  Here is the original sketch and you'll see I followed it pretty closely.

My entry was made with stamps from Tim Holtz's Urban Grunge and unknown heart stamped over the background and embossed with white powder. Then ink dustered with a mixture of Tattered Rose & Worn Lipstick Distress Inks.  The sentiment is an old one from Anita's and was stamped and distressed slightly with Worn Lipstick.  The darker pink circle has a touch of silver mica, although it doesn't show in the photo.  Three gemstones complete the card.

Whilst I had my stuff out, I made a second card on a similar theme, but not following the sketch.  The stamps on the pink matt are from Country Companians (butterfly) and unknown swirl.  The butterfly embellishment is a paper diecut (unknown source as given to me) which I embossed with clear powder and decoupaged, adding black gemstones.  The sentiment is also embossed :)

LIM 64 & Sweet Stampin' Challenges

This week's challenge on Less is More is to Use a charm in your card.  Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog are doing Use more than 1 ribbon, so I've combined the two themes into this card.  I've used lace, ribbons and a charm (saying love) from my stash.  The stamp is from Collage Stuff using Mountain Meadow Big and Juicy stamp pad.

The second card is actually the first one made!  It is a commissioned anniversary card for one of the ladies in the care home.  This image has added clear embossing powder around the edges and on the butterfly, which is also decoupaged.  The challenge card grew out of an extra image I had stamped whilst trying out different cardstock ... seemed a shame to waste it.

I realise that the second card shown is probably more LIM than the first,  but I couldn't incorporate a charm!  I feel there is still quite a bit of open space on the first card :)

Baby Quilt finished.

Here it is finished.  I did the all over loopy hearts for the quilting which made this quick and easy to finish.  Good job too, as it needs to be delivered this week :)

Baby Quilt progress ...

A very simple design with snowballs and sashing, but I do like the way the cornerstones create a secondary pattern.  This is now basted ready for quilting.  I had originally thought of quilting Wonky Feathers pattern by Pajama Quilter on this, but I think it might be too sophisticated.  I might just do a simple loopy heart instead - any opinions either way?  I will probably get to the quilting on Wednesday evening or Thursday :)

Less is More - Week 63

The LIM challenge this week is for a One Layer Card using Doodling.  This had my brain whirling for a while!!  Eventually I decided to utilise a template for a xmas bauble and doodle in the design.  So, the only stamped image is the swirl at the top, the greeting is a peel-off and everthing else was drawn by me with sharpie pens :)

Less is More - Week 62

Such a simple card, but this has been a really tricky one to do!  This is for the LIM challenge of Three Shades of Green.  My first attempt was full of problems, ink bleeding under masking tape, tape ruining card surface on removal, ink straying beyond the masked area, etc.  I'm not 100% happy with this attempt, but it's way better than the first!  I used three colours of Distess Ink and stamps by Hobby Art - Anna's Collection, Special Wishes.  I learn stuff with every card I make which is all good :)

Baby Quilt ...

I admit it ... I've been having far too much fun with the cardmaking!  They are so quick (compared to quilts) and you get a result and sense of achievement after only an hour or two.  But a baby quilt is required and I need to get down to some sewing.
Here are the fabrics ready to go - some I spy squares and LOTS of pink!!

Happy Easter everyone :)

Car Cards.

A couple of last minute cards I made for the Easter Fayre at the care home.  They use an older wood mounted stamp by Hobby Art which I found in the home's craft cupboard.

The first one used a cog mask from That Special Touch which was embossed by hand (no machine available here) and coloured with Distress Inks in Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge.  The car image was also lightly coloured with the same inks and a little Vintage Photo.

The second was done in a variety of Distress Inks and watercolours.
After the success of the Easter Fayre (most of the cards and mug rugs were sold) I need to clear my table and get a baby quilt made by month end.  I've been having too much fun with these cards which give such a (relatively) instant sense of achievement :)
