CFC 58

Apparently today (23rd June) is National Pink Day, so the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is Pretty in Pink!  Here's my entry - a 70th birthday card for one of the care home ladies to send to her daughter.  I used a piece of vintage french dictionary paper, coloured with distress inks as the background paper.  Flowers were stamped onto designer paper and cut out, then a larger version of the flower stamped onto the background.  '70' was freehand cut and added to a circle of cream card.  Black gemstones complete the flower centres.  I think it makes a rather elegant card :)

CFC 57

The challenge this week at Cas-ual Fridays is to create a Clean And Simple project using acetate or vellum.  My entry is a card I made on special request from one of the ladies in the Care Home.  Her son is scuba diver (amoungst other things) and she wanted a birthday card for him.  As I had no materials or stamps suitable, this was a serious challenge.  After a lot of thinking time, I watercoloured a random background, added some 'seaweed' using a Hobby Art meadow grass stamps and a couple of fish peel-offs to create the base.  I altered a clipart scuba diver into a silhouette and printed him onto acetate.  Layer them up and create a porthole type frame in black.  Phew ... glad that's turned out ok :)

Craft a Scene - June Challenge

This month the challenge at Craft a Scene is to create "a beach scene with a bit of sand and water".  Much as I love the seaside, this was a tricky one as I had no stamps or other materials that specifically related to the sea or the coast.  I was inspired by a photograph on Nan's blog and decided I could use this as inspiration for my beach scene.  I used stamps from Stampscapes and Hobby Art Scene-Its to create the foreground detail, the dog walker and the birds.  The rest is all done with watercolour paints on watercolour card.  It took a bit of trial and error, but I'm really pleased with the finished result :)

Gone Fishing ...

Here's another little scene I created with Stampscape stamps.  This time I wasn't trying to recreate anything I had seen elsewhere, I just played about on scrap paper until I got a composition I was happy with.  The starting point was creating an environment for the wading fisherman and it grew from there.  This one was watercoloured on watercoloured paper :)

Scenic stamps used, all from Stampscapes:- 146F Crooked Path, 244E Tree Cluster, 251C Sedge Filler, 186B Wading Fisherman, 301A Rocks & Grass.  Greeting: Mixed Sentiments from Personal Expressions.
