My low volume quilt is finished. When I layed all the blocks out, I wanted to add a touch more drama so I added the zig-zag stripe of Kona Carrot and Kona Chocolate. The colours were taken from the backing fabric, but DH and I agree that the orange/brown combo gives it a real 70s feel!
I tried to use up some of the YLI threads I have on the quilting of this one. It's amazing how 'chunky' they feel compared to the Isacord I've been using recently. I did use a finer thread for the detail on the Chocolate zig-zags.The Low Volume blocks were designed by Elizabeth Hartman for her Craftsy course and the quilting designs were inspired by Angela Walters. Thank you ladies :)
Fantastic finish!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember you had been taking a class on the Internet - this quilt is stunning - different, fresh, and MODERN!!!
ReplyDeleteI have misplace my Angela Walters (her first) book - 8-(( You are really advancing and learning a LOT. I like your helpful comments about threads and their results.
A wonderful finish! The quilting goes with it so well. It's funny, I was cleaning my shelf space and found some quilting threads--but I've now got a use for them so I put them all together. I love, love quilting with Isacord. So glad for learning about that and my supreme slider on that quilting challenge last year.
